Back to School

Today was the first day of school here in northeast Pennsylvania.  It always make me a bit sad because it signifies the ending of summer.  Here are my two oldest grandies, excited to be going back to school!

Where Scarecrows come from.

Just hanging out, "ripening" in the sun and rain for maybe another couple weeks until they are the perfect shade of fade.

Sketching the days away.

Sometimes I plan a new design.  Sketching it down on a scrap of paper and putting it on the pile.  At times, I dig right into it, eager to get it out of my head!  Other times, it sits for a year or two while I occasionally mull over the details.  Such is the case with one particular design.  I shall begin it next week....or the week after, a year in the making now.

BUT, this one popped into my head and jumped onto the paper and then to my sewing machine all in one day.  It began as the simple pumpkin with the dried pumpkin stem.  Then I decided it would make a good snowman head as well.  However, not content with just one hat, I made another with a taller, skinnier hat.  Finally, the last pumpkin  with the date on it.  I had to have an option for those that do not have access to a dried stem so viola, I fashioned a twisty stem that anyone can make.  So here you have it, GIANT pumpkins and snowman heads! lol
These chunkies measure 42" around!!
I have this available as a mailed pattern or an E-pattern.
Mailed is $11.00 + shipping, E-pattern is $9.00
So fun they were to make, I have many of these large, stuffed, "balls" around my house, waiting to be finished.  I've taken a couple pictures with my granddaughters so you can see how big they actually are.  AND, because my grandies are just THAT cute!!
Enjoy your day!

I've been badddddd....

......a bad blogger  :(
I'm so caught up with the nice weather, always giving in to the temptation of wandering outside to watch my grandies run thru the fields or splash in the pool.  The weather has been grand, warm, WARM and humid.  Followed every few days by a passing shower or two.  The veggie garden is soaking all of this weather up and growing quickly.  The past 3 days we have been picking and eating yellow squash and zucchini,  yum!  I have been snapping up pictures, I will post them in a day or two.  Hope you are enjoying your summer, wherever you happen to be!
