How'd you get your name?

Business name that is. Mine was simple. When we bought our current home about 17 yrs ago, I decided I would grow a field or two of everlasting flowers, you know, the kind that you dry? Well, I did and it was alot of work and the weeds really did get ahead of me. But we did harvest ALOT of everlastings and we hung the bundles from the rafters in the barn to dry. Wish I had taken a pic. Anyhoo, since we had a lot of land and it was mostly fields(meadows), we started to call ourselves, "SweetMeadowsFarm".
I've since given up the dried flowers to sell and we really just have beds of flowers to enjoy during the summer months.
When I decided to start up my doll biz, I just stuck with our original name.
Above is a pic of one of my flower beds and a shot looking back at our veggie garden.
Notice the meadows??! lol

  3. your farm flowers are gorgeous! just me came from our business name i share with my parents. we are ma, pa & me. we used to be hearts and hands handiworks, when one day someone at a sale asked my dad who made all our stuff. he replied my wife, daughter and i. it just popped in my ma,pa and me!! it is easy, fun, and people remember us. my son who is now 14 has grown up going to shows with us so when he was little he always would pipe in "well me too!" so most of our friends call us ma, pa, & me & me too! someday they keep threateing to retire ( i personaly think will neverhappen they love seeing people and visiting) but just in case thought "just me" it will be someday!

  4. Always love seeing your flowers and your "sweet" meadows, Maureen....just gorgeous!!...Raspberry Lane Primitives came from my love of eating raspberries-especially wild ones... and who doesn't want to live on a "lane"??

  5. I love this story. And I am envious of your place. We used to live in the country but moved to improve our living space. I really miss the country and especially the river running by. But we do have a much nicer home now and I have accepted that we will probably always be here. We have made it into our own private paradise. So Parker's Paradise. I have painted a sign for our garden that says the same.
I would love to have space to grow wildflowers. Don't you dry some for yourself?

  6. I decided on my shop name because we live in a small rural town in Colorado. My shop has jewelry, hand mades, and antiques. So when you come in you never know what kind of treasure you will find. So that where country treasures come from and I love primitives and making them that where primitivecountrytreasures came from for my blog.

  7. Well Maureen,
Your place is absolutely wonderful! I love country soooo much... the old ways of doing things is what we should get back to, I think. I came up with Cardinal Crafts because of a conversation I had with my dad a few years ago (he was still living then). He asked me what my favorite bird was. I thought about it and decided it was Cardinals. When he asked why, I said it was because whenever I see one it gives me hope. They are also such a beautiful bird. Did you know that they stay faithful to their mates for life?

  8. I think of your sweet meadows...with your clothes line of babies blowing in the wind scenting the air with sweetness! As for my 123 lavender lollipop lane...it evoked a small country cottage stitched to a little lane found only by traveling by foot and stumbled upon during a lazy afternoon stroll. And since Lavender is my fav color...and I began with designing things for little ones the "123" was just something basic...something first learned...and the lollipop just adds that sweetness...
