Flood!

Truly unbelievable, the amount of rain and flooding in northeast PA and upstate NY.  Roadways are flooded or damaged, bridges flooded or ruined, business destroyed....schools closed everywhere and all areas declared states of emergency.
Our home is on high ground, we are one of the luckier ones.  When the rain finally stopped and we could get out a bit, we took some pictures about our small community.  The Susquehanna river is a small river in this area but it became a roaring demon overnight.  Below are some pictures we were able to take as far as we could go...which wasn't very far at all.  I don't know how long it will take or even HOW this area will be able to recover.
The river has yet to crest many miles south of us in the Wilkes Barre area, keep this entire area in your prayers please.
This is looking down Main Street in Lanesboro, PA.

This is Lanesboro Main Str. from the other end.

More Lanesboro, how ironic that boat is parked in flood waters.

Up the hill from Lanesboro, looking down across the river to Oakland.

Down in Oakland, you can get only so far on the road before the river overtakes it.

You will see far in the picture is the tree line where the bank of the river actually is under normal circumstances in Oakland.

Here's the Susquehanna River.  When things get back to normal, I will come back and post a picture of how it really looks.

Side of this road is washed away and you cannot see from the picture but there is actually a waterfall.....

This is the nice quiet stream that runs thru Lanesboro......not so today.

More random shots in Lanesboro.  As I stated, we could not go very far due to flooding and road conditions.

Just before dusk, my son snapped a photo of a rainbow with his phone.  Sorry, I don't have that shot but we did have some clearing skies....Tomorrow HAS to be better.

This is so terrible, here all the floods and the people in Texas could use some of this water for all the fires. I live in Oregon and it is so hot at the moment, we are having our heatwave and we are burning also, it makes the air quality really bad. Mother Nature! You wonder!

Wow, we got rain over here, but nothing like that. How awful. All that water ruining things. Too bad something can't be done to get it all down to Texas and put out fires and just moisten their ground!!!

I feel bad for those with all that rain, we really need it here in Oklahoma, there are fires all over the place, some are arson....There was a fire about 2 blocks away from my house in Texas. I wish that storm in the gulf would cross over both states! I hope you stay safe and dry.

Thank you for sharing your photos Maureen. It is so devastating. I live in Wellsboro, Pa and we were spared. But just a few miles east and north of us there is such devastation. I pray for everyone and Maureen hope you and your family are safe.
God Bless you all!

Hi Maureen! I have had the pleasure of speaking with you via phone in the past and we spoke of upstate NY where I am living. I am one of the fortunate ones living in higher elevations and not affected but I have many friends and family who are not so lucky! Yesterday they closed major bridges landlocking me in at work and away from my family as the threat to 2 locks where about the burst! This experience is so surreal. Not only am I praying for everyone around I am also praying for those in Texas who could use the water that we have too much of.

God bless you and your family and all other families out there! Be safe!
