A sad day....

...indeed.
Today we had to have one of our beloved pets put down.  "Itchy" as she was named by my son, was here when we purchased our home.  A stray, she was part of a family of four.  One by one, we captured them and brought them in to live with us.  She's the last remainder of her family of 4, over 18 years old now.  She's been slowly failing.....first going deaf, eyesight next.  She's gotten painfully thin and feeble.  It's the right thing to do as I never want to see any of our pets suffering.
But still.................

Oh Maureen, my heart aches for you. I know exactly what you are going through. I had to put my Lilly down Feb. 15th. I just can't get over it, I still cry everyday.
I was the same as you we had four furbabies when the kids were small 2 cats and two dogs. ( You have to realize I used to be one of these people who didn't leave an animal in the house). Well I got soft after having kids.
Lilly was our last remaining one, I took her to get operated on thinking that her cancerous tumors would be removed, as the vet was about to do surgery he called me telling me just how bad she was, and the best thing I could do for her was put her down.
I feel like I betrayed her,
well it is awful and they have to go to heaven.
I am crying as I am writing this, wish I coulc give you a big old hug.
Praying for you today,
Hugs, Lecia

I'm so sorry. :( It is like losing a family member. When I put a kitty down a few years ago, I stood right in his line of vision petting him, and he purred the whole time. It made me feel better, like he was telling me it was okay and that he wasn't hurting anymore.

Oh Maureen: I am sorry...She's in heaven now and pain free runnin' with the other kitties. I have had to do this twice...for a 16 yr old dog and a 16 yr old cat over the years...our 14 yr old dalmation will probably be put down this spring and I'm crying already.

Oh Maureen, I am so very sorry. I know too well what a hard decision it is to make and how your heart breaks when your beloved pet is gone. Even though it is the right and compassionate thing to do, that does not ease the pain of their passing. My deepest condolences to you and your family, Deb

Huggs to you and your family. They truly are our fur-kids, and it's heartbreaking when they are gone.
I lost my sweet Maddie Maye kitty to a sudden illness a year and a half ago and I still cry. She was only 6 years old. She was my garden buddy, followed me everywhere and brought me grasshoppers and mice. Oh and such a talker. And a singer! She would sing the longest meeeowwwowowowowww if she couldn't find me. I miss her so.
Maybe Itchy and Maddie will be friends now too :)
